Covid precautions

We would like everyone who attends the reunion to have all of the vaccinations and boosters that they are qualified to have.  If anyone in your family has covid we regretfully ask that you quarantine with them at home.  Masking and social distancing will be encouraged as warranted by conditions at the time of the reunion.  We welcome comments, suggestions and solutions that you feel could help keep everyone safe

Brainstorming to Envision our Babcock Reunion 2022

Ken and I would like all of us to work together to visualize, imagine, foresee, and prepare for a successful event with input and participation from everyone.  No one person is being put in charge, but we want to have the energy, ideas talents, and contributions of everyone come together.

To begin we will set up separate posts for different categories and invite comments and commitments.  Preplanning and acceptance of responsibility will be needed for some events to happen.  Volunteering is encouraged.  Flexibility and spontaneity will be essential.  Sometimes we will need to forgive and to be sorry.  We trust that we can develop and strengthen connections, friendship, love and trust.

Recently Michael helped us explore our vision for the reunion.  I am including his minutes.  Posts of separate categories with the comment option will follow.

Logistics - Mom plans to start working on it this week

  • Thinking about chartering a plane or driving
  • Finalize plans
  • Share the vision of the trip with the family
  • Invite participation in planning and identifying areas they want to help
  • Have people feel the freedom to come forward with their ideas and let the structure emerge as people are willing to feel ownership of certain parts of the structure
  • Establish categories of activities, things of interest
  • Communicate needs for leadership and organization
  • Help to create structure, not chaos
  • Coordinate for different preferences around having a plan with no deviation vs insisting on deviation
Purposes
  • Relationships
  • Reinforce our good feelings for each other
  • Renew connections and make connections
  • Facilitate the kind of honesty of communication, trust, understanding and support that comes from spending time together
  • Create lasting relationships
  • Renew the genetic and spiritual connections we have from past experiences together and make then strong enough to help with the variables that happen in mortality
  • Encourage a good family feeling
  • Reinforce the value of time spent together
  • Open our lives to include family
  • Discover how much honesty and trust is in our relationships
  • Help people discover relationships with family member who didn't grow up together
Activities and Plans
  • Not having families isolate themselves
  • An opportunity for cousins to be together and interact with each other
  • Have activities involving different groups
  • Encourage water time
  • Get the most people involved
  • Event-enough oriented that people can be attracted to group activities
  • Family dinner (Maybe different families host a meal.  Maybe different groups. E.g. maybe the boys or the girls are in charge of a meal)
  • Have planning and structure, and also spontaneity (e.g. golf simulator at the warehouse on Christmas Eve.
  • Flexible enough to deal with anything that. haplpens

The VRBO website probably won't work anymore.  CHANGE HAPPENS!  But the reunion is still on.  The vacation rental property located at 2556 Sandfiddler Road has been purchased by a new homeowner and renamed Catch N Relax as of 1/12/22.  Our dates are being held.

When we arrive at the home a keyless door lock will have been installed and a key code will be assigned for your stay.  We will have everything in the house that was agreed on in our lease.  The beds will be made, towels provided and indoor pool ready to go!
